In 1998, almost an entire century after Oscar Wilde's death, the first in a series of three statues was erected in the northwest corner of Dublin's Merrion Square by artist Danny Osborne. This statue of a reclining Wilde was eventually accompanied by two flanking pillars, one depicting a full-body statue of a nude..
